Authorities meet to discuss tackling fire at Kildare dump

Representatives from Kildare County Council, the Environmental Protection Agency and the HSE are to meet later today, to discuss concerns regarding a burning fire at Kerdiffstown dump.

The fire at the dump, just outside Naas, has been burning underground for more than a week now and efforts to put it out have been unsuccessful.

It is understood that two families have been forced to leave their homes and others are today considering their situation.

It has been reported today that the Minister for the Environment Eamon O' Cúiv is going to provide funding "immediately" to put the fire out and provide security at the site.
