Gardaí arrest three after Galway arms find

Three people have been arrested after the discovery of explosive material and guns in Co. Galway.

Gardaí made the arrests yesterday after an out-building and a farmhouse were searched in the Monivea area.

Officers arrested a 48-year-old man after discovering a handgun and three shotguns.

In a follow-up operation, Gardaí searched a house in Tuam, Co Galway.

There, they found a gun and arrested a man and woman who are both aged 40.

All three are being questionned at Galway Garda Station under Section 30 Offences Against The State Act.

The explosives and firearms have been removed to Garda Headquarters for forensic examination.
