More than 30,000 left without power in North

More than 30,000 customers were left without power in the North this afternoon after a contractor damaged a power cable.

More than 30,000 customers were left without power in the North this afternoon after a contractor damaged a power cable.

The outage affected the Newry area and surrounding towns.

Customers were cut off just before 3pm and emergency crews responded.

A spokesperson for Northern Ireland Electricity has said all those affected have had their power restored.
