McGrath to stand as independent candidate

Mattie McGrath has become the latest person to jump ship from the Fianna Fáil party.
The TD for Tipperary South today confirmed he'll stand as an independent on polling day - which is widely expected to be named as February 25.
It comes after Galway East TD Noel Treacy announced he won't be running on medical grounds, while veteran FF deputies Ned O'Keeffe and Noel Ahern also said they won't be contesting the election.
A question mark still hangs over whether Brian Cowen will contest the election in his constituency of Laois-Offaly.
