Army bomb disposal team carries out controlled explosion in Dublin

An army bomb disposal team have made safe a World War II era calibre shell found in Dublin.

The item was discovered during excavation works at a private residence on Nutgrove Avenue in Rathfarnam.

The three inch shell was removed from the scene to waste ground where a controlled explosion was carried out.

The area has since been declared safe.
