FF's O'Rourke calls for leadership issue to be revisited

Fianna Fáil TD Mary O'Rourke has said the issue of her party's leadership should be revisited.

Brian Cowen's leadership is set to come under scrutiny again today after yesterday's botched Cabinet reshuffle despite his victory during the confidence motion earlier this week.

Backbenchers are urging senior members of Fianna Fáil to take charge of the situation and Mary O'Rourke has said there will be another heave if the numbers add up.

She said things had changed since Tuesday's parliamentary party meeting, adding: "We had such hopes on Tuesday...I thought he (Brian Cowen) had turned a corner…I don't know what happened yesterday."

When asked by Newstalk's Ivan Yates if she believed the leadership should be looked at again, Ms O'Rourke said: "Yes."
