ESRI: Parents must play active role in childrens' education
A new report is urging parents to take a bigger role in the education of their children during secondary school.
The study by the Economic and Social Research Institute and Department of Education have said parents need to be provided with more information from schools to help their children in making choices.
It also said parental involvement in post primary education can help improve exam performance among young people.
Research Professor Emer Smyth from the ESRI, one of the co-authors of the report, said parents have a very important part to play as they are the main sources of advice.
