Gardaí are appealing to the public for help in tracing two males suspected of carrying out a double murder in Limerick yesterday.

Gardaí are appealing to the public for help in tracing two males suspected of carrying out a double murder in Limerick yesterday.

Twenty-four-year-old Dessie Kelly of Castleoaks View, O'Malley Park, and his partner, 28-year-old Breda Waters of St Mary's Park, Limerick, were shot dead in Mr Kelly's house.

It has emerged that another woman and a child were in the house at the time of the murders but escaped injury.

Gardaí believe the double murder occured at around 9am on Sunday morning in Castleoaks View O'Malley Park.

Two males seen on foot in the area around the time of the killings are the prime suspects.

Superintendent John Gilligan of the Garda Press Office has appealed to people in the area to pass on information in confidence to gardaí on the garda confidential line at 1800 666111.
