Court charges five men over Co Clare graveyard assault
Five men have appeared in court in connection with an attack at a County Clare graveyard in which one man had his finger cut off.
There was a strong Garda presence at the special sitting of Ennis District Court where all five were charged with assault causing harm to the alleged victim at a funeral in the town yesterday afternoon.
Four were also charged with the possession of an offensive weapon on the same date.
The court heard that the alleged victim lost one finger in a machete attack, suffered serious injury to a second finger and also sustained head injuries.
All five accused were remanded in custody with consent to bail.
