Trade unions to meet management over job losses

The Mandate Trade Union will meet with Superquinn staff from the Naas store tomorrow after it announced that it was pulling out of the Co Kildare town.

The company said the move is being made because its lease has expired.

A 30-day consultation period will now take place with the company's 100 employees who are being offered the opportunity to redeploy within the company.

Meanwhile, SIPTU is to meet with Kerry Airport management next week in a bid to limit redundancies there.

Up to 20 jobs, mainly ground crew and customer services, are to be lost at the airport on February 4.

Management said the move must be made after the airport suffered a massive reduction in revenue following Ryanair's decision to discontinue several of its Dublin-Kerry flights.
