RSA urge people to drive safely ahead of New Year's celebrations
The Road Safety Authority is urging people heading out tonight not to drink and drive, and to leave the car at home or designate a driver, or simply get a taxi.
Pedestrians walking home from nights out are also being advised to make sure that they remain visible to motorists.
Assistant Commissioner for Traffic is John Twomey is reminding people of the dangers of driving the morning after a night out, when alcohol may not have left your system.
"Never ever drink and drive…if you think you are over the limit the following morning, you must not get into that car," he said.
