Three-car collision claims two men's lives in Monaghan
Two men have been killed in a road accident in Co Monaghan.
Four other people were seriously injured in the collision which occurred just outside Carrickmacross on the N2 Dublin Road at around 7pm last night.
Three of the injured are in a critical condition in hospital.
The three-car crash happened around 3km outside Carrickmacross shortly before 7pm yesterday on N2 Dublin Road between Carrickmacross and Ardee.
The two men who lost their lives were travelling in the one car.
Three other men and a woman were seriously injured in the accident and remain in a critical condition at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
Two of the critically injured men were in the same car as the men who died.
Two children who were passengers in another car were also taken to hospital, but did not suffer serious injuries.
The section of the road where the accident occured will remain closed for a number of hours today with diversions in place while a technical examination is carried out.
