Water shortages continue

Water shut offs are still in effect in many places this morning.

Local authorities are trying to preserve supplies after the big freeze.

They were forced to implement restrictions to deal with shortages caused by frozen and reduced supplies and people leaving taps running to prevent frozen pipes.

Restrictions are continuing in County Cork and some parts of Dublin.

Extensive disruptions to public water supplies are also expected today in Abbeyfeale Town and surrounding areas, as well as the Ballyneety and Caherconlish areas.

The disruption is the result of major water main bursts overnight.
