Snow and sleet predicted for north and northwest

Met Éireann has said that heavy rain is spreading across the country this afternoon with sleet and snow likely to hit parts of the north and northwest.

We are also being warned that there is a risk of some flooding as the thaw begins with heavy rainfall expected over night.
