Rescue teams active on Christmas Day

Rescue teams were called to some Christmas Day incidents, it has emerged.

Wicklow Mountain Rescue personnel were alerted after a couple, believed to be holidaying in Ireland, followed their sat-nav and got stuck in the Sally Gap, which is impassable due to snow and ice.

Ballycotton Lifeboat in Co Cork was called out to assist four visitors who were walking on the small island between Ballycotton Pier and the Lighthouse when the tide turned, trapping them.
