Collisions add to chaos on M4 and M7

Road conditions are treacherous this afternoon as people make their way home.

There have been a number of collisions with the M4 and the M7 in Kildare the worst affected.

Drivers are advised to take extreme care and to make their journey before dark if possible.

Further salt shipments arrived here overnight and this morning.

The National Roads Authority has said it is being distributed and there is enough to treat primary roads.

Public transport is running as normal for the most part today with some delays in places.

But Bus Eireann, Irish Rail and Dublin Bus are advising intending passengers to check transport.ie before setting out to ensure your route is not affected.
