Road conditions across much of the country remain perilous and motorists are again being urged to avoid unnecessary journeys.

For the most part, public transport is running, with some delays and diversions in place.

Bus Éireann and Irish Rail are advising intending passengers to check www.transport.ie before setting out to ensure their planned route is not affected.

The Luas Red Line is operating a full service between The Point and Tallaght Stops, while the Green Line is operating a full line service between St Stephen's Green and Brides Glen.

Meanwhile, Dublin Bus services are operating on all corridors across the city, however there are curtailments and diversions due to icy road conditions.

Ferry companies are reporting booming business in recent days, as air passengers whose flights have been delayed or cancelled seek alternative transport.
