Magee: HSE faces 'immense challenge' over budget
The Chief Executive of the HSE has said it will be an "immense challenge" to deliver what is set out in its service plan next year, without impacting on patients.
However, Cathal Magee said he is hoping the HSE will be able to maintain the same level of services provided this year, despite a cut of almost €700m in its budget.
Central to this plan is a massive cost-saving and restructuring programme, as well as cuts in what the HSE terms as "in-patient activity" and mental and disability services.
Mr Magee said the support of everyone in the healthcare system is needed in order to ensure this service plan is delivered.
