Roche hopes Chernobyl children will arrive in Ireland

The Founder of Chernobyl Ireland, Adi Roche, has said that she is hopeful that 50 children, who are due here later as part of the Christmas programme, will arrive as planned.

The children have travelled 1,000 kilometres through the night, from Western Russia to Lithuania.

They are expected to get a flight from there to Dublin this morning and are due to land in the afternoon.

The children, who have been affected by the 1986 nuclear disaster, will spend the holiday season with Irish volunteer host families here.
