Environment Minister John Gormley has announced the Carbon Tax is likely to be applied to solid fuels here by next Spring.

It has been delayed because of fears of cross border smuggling due to cheaper prices in the North.

However, announcing the Carbon budget this afternoon, John Gormley says a solution to the issue has been found.
