The extradition of Ian Bailey to France for questioning over the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier is an insult to the Irish state and legal system, it was claimed today.

A barrister for the former journalist told the High Court in Dublin there was no new evidence against his client, who is fighting the case on grounds it infringes his human and legal rights.
