Government backbencher backs Opposition calls for tax on bankers' bonuses

A Government backbencher has today backed calls from the Opposition to impose a 99% tax on €40m worth of bonuses for AIB executives.

Fianna Fáil Deputy for Tipperary South Mattie McGrath has today backed a call from Fine Gael's Deputy leader Dr James Reilly that tomorrow's emergency financial legislation be used to impose the tax.
