Road conditions still treacherous after overnight freeze
Most transport services are running normally this morning, despite another night of sub-zero conditions.
Bus Eireann has said some routes in the north and east are still being disrupted while Dublin Bus has a number of services facing curtailments.
Irish Rail has said all its trains and DARTs are running, as are trams on the Luas Red and Green lines in Dublin, although the Connolly tram stop in the city centre is still closed.
Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports are fully operational, however those planning to take a flight are advised to check with their airline for the latest updates before leaving home.
Met Eireann is forecasting an improvement in weather conditions today following 12 days of the sub-zero temperatures.
However, road conditions remain dangerous around the country following temperatures of -9C in places over night.
Motorists are being advised to continue to drive with extreme care and pedestrians are being warned that footpaths will remain treacherous for a number of days as the ice and snow lingers.
Meanwhile, local authorities in the Dublin region are appealing to householders to reduce their water usage by 10%.
Water supplies in the capital will be cut again tonight while other parts of the country - including Sligo, Cork, Kerry and Meath - will also be affected.
However, a significant thaw is to get underway today with conditions becoming milder over the coming days.
