Further snow and sleet falls are forecast today in east Leinster and parts of south east Munster, with fresh accumulations of up to six centimetres.

Further snow and sleet falls are forecast today in east Leinster and parts of south east Munster, with fresh accumulations of up to six centimetres.

However Met Éireann says the showers will tend to die away this evening, but it will be bitterly cold again tonight with temperatures falling to -9C.

Motorists are again being warned of treacherous driving conditions, with very icy roads and freezing fog nationwide.

Meanwhile Michael Phillips from Dublin City Council said that local authorities in the Dublin region may be forced to cut water supplies between 7pm and 7am over the next three nights.
