'Viable device' found in Tipperary town

An investigation is underway this evening after a viable device was found in Tippperary town.

An investigation is underway this evening after a viable device was found in Tippperary town.

The explosive device was found outside a house in Grenane Drive at around 3am this morning.

The Army Bomb Disposal team was called in and the area was made safe at 6.30am.

A number of residents had to be evacuated for a time.

The device has been taken away for a technical examination.
