Cowen defends growth forecast for economy

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen has defended the Government's forecast for economic growth even though the European Commission has flatly contradicted the prediction.

The EU believes Ireland's economy will grow by just 0.9% next year, but the Department of Finance said growth will be almost twice that figure.
