Protest crowd fills O'Connell street

Gardaí have today estimated the number of people taking part in today's march in Dublin to be in the region of 50,000.

The march has now reached O'Connell Street.

"For safety reasons, gardaí are asking those taking part to co-operate with stewards and safety instructions, and to fill O' Connell Street, as a large part of the march is still moving along the quays," said a garda statement.

A live stream of the protest can be seen at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/quaycam.
