Two arrested after armed Dublin raid
Two men have been arrested following an attempted armed robbery in Dublin last night.
Gardai were alerted by a panic alarm and arrived at the scene at an off licence on Botanic Road at 9pm, to find three men inside and the front door locked.
Gardai broke down the door but were attacked by the gang, one of whom attempted to hit a member of the force with a hammer.
The raiders then moved towards the back of the premises, and escaped through a rear exit.
Two men (aged 25 and 45) were arrested nearby and taken to Store St and Mountjoy garda stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
A member of staff was beaten by the raiders and received minor injuries.
