Group recommends no debt forgiveness on mortgage arrears

A Government-appointed expert group on mortgage arrears has recommended there should be no debt forgiveness for people who are in trouble with their mortgage repayments.

Approximately 40,000 people are in arrears of three months or more, while 30,000 have entered arrangements with their lenders.
