Electrical fault blamed for Killarney cathedral fire

An electrical fault has been blamed for fire which broke out at St Mary's Cathedral in Killarney, Co Kerry this morning.

An electrical fault has been blamed for fire which broke out at St Mary's Cathedral in Killarney, Co Kerry this morning.

Three units of Killarney Fire Service were called to the blaze, which broke out in the cathedral's sacristy just after 10am.

No one was injured and the fire was brought under control.

Bishop of Kerry Dr Bill Murphy said the damage appeared to have been confined to the sacristy.
