Dempsey to face angry farmers at Gort bypass opening
The Minister for Transport will open the Gort bypass later today, where he will be faced with farmers who are angry over the lack of action since last year's devastating floods.
IFA officials and local farmers want to highlight to Noel Dempsey the urgent need for drainage work to be carried out in areas of Galway that are susceptible to flooding.
The 22km stretch of motorway, which will link the M18 at Crusheen in Co Clare to north of Gort, will be officially opened at midday today.
