Iceland to create 2,000 jobs in Irish expansion

Supermarket chain Iceland is to create 2,000 new jobs with the opening of more than 100 new stores here.

An announcement is expected today, detailing the company's plans for expansion in Ireland.

It is understood the company is on the lookout for sites across the country as part of the €30m investment.

In another jobs annoucement, Sigmar Recruitment will create 40 new jobs - with 10 immediate vacancies in Dublin.

A further 20 more jobs are set to come online over the coming months with 10 filled before April and another 10 filled by June.

There are also 10 positions available in their international offices, particularly Poland.

Provisions have been made for the 10 new full-time Hume Street based positions on the Sigmar Graduate Programme - eight posts of which have been filled by graduates this week.

CEO of Sigmar Adrian McGennis says that despite all the industry negativity, the reality on the ground is things are definitely picking up both at home and in their international offices.
