Man in court in connection with €300k drugs haul

A 49-year-old man has appeared before Limerick District Court charged with possession of drugs worth around €300,000.

A 49-year-old man has appeared before Limerick District Court charged with possession of drugs worth around €300,000.

Shane Mangan with an address Crecora in Co Limerick was arrested on Sunday when gardaí stopped his van.

During a search they found 35 packets of cannabis concealed in panelling.

Gardaí said they believed Mr Mangan had travelled to the continent to collect the drugs and bring them back to Ireland.

Judge Tom O'Donnell remanded Mr Mangan in custody to appear in court again on Thursday.
