No evidence of a conspiracy, Moriarty Tribunal told

The Moriarty Tribunal has been told that there was no evidence of a conspiracy to ensure the Esat Digifone consortium was awarded a mobile phone licence in 1995.

Professor Michael Anderson, who was a key consultant during the competition process, has told the inquiry today that it had got it wrong in finding fault with the process.

He was being questioned by former Minister Michael Lowry, who is representing himself.

Professor Anderson questioned today why an investigation into the awarding of the mobile phone licence could have lasted nine years, when the process was "normal and defendable".
