A female pedestrian was seriously injured this morning when she was struck by a motorcyclist on the Crumlin Road in Dublin, gardaí said.

A female pedestrian was seriously injured this morning when she was struck by a motorcyclist on the Crumlin Road in Dublin, gardaí said.

Both are currently in St James's Hospital.

The accident took place at around 9.30am.

The Crumlin Road is closed to facilitate a forensic and technical examination, with traffic diversions in place at The Childrens Hospital Crumlin at Kildare Road.

This has resulted in severe traffic congestion occurring on the Naas, Longmile, Drimnagh and Crumlin Roads and anyone attending The Children's Hospital is asked to use the Keeper Road at the rear of Sundrive Garda Station which will bring them to the back of the hospital.

Gardaí appealed for witnesses to the accident to contact them at at Sundrive Road on 01 6666600, and said they were anxious to speak to the driver of a silver Peugeot car that stopped at the scene of the collision.
