Closing speeches heard in assault trial
The trial of a Dublin man accused of running over his ex-girlfriend’s employer causing him to lose his foot has reached it final stages at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Mr Joseph Cullen (aged 42) is accused of beating the man and hitting him twice with a car after chasing him from his former partner’s home. The man, a managing director of the ex-girlfriend’s company, later lost his foot as a result of his injuries.
Mr Cullen of Adare Avenue, Coolock has pleaded not guilty to assault causing harm and causing serious harm to Mr Kevin Byrne on March 8, 2008 at St Helena’s Road, Finglas.
Defence and prosecution counsel have concluded their closing speeches and the jury of seven men and five women will begin their deliberations after hearing from Judge Patrica Ryan.
