Suspected burglar arrested in RTÉ Cork studios

RTÉ broadcaster John Creedon was on air last night when he spotted a suspected burglar in the control room next to his studio.

The man had broken into the RTÉ building on Fr Mathew Street in Cork at around 9pm.

He went onto the second floor and went into the room next to Mr Creedon, who spotted him.

He contacted gardaí and the man was arrested shortly afterwards, hiding underneath a table.

The 34-year-old man was taken to the Bridewell station where he was being questioned today under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí said Mr Creedon was not accosted by the man.

The front door of the building was damaged in the incident.

Gardaí believe burglary was the motive for the break in.
