Suspicious device found at Longford house

Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a suspicious device at a house in Co Longford.

The device was found at a house in Kenagh this morning and the army bomb disposal team has been called in.

It follows an assault at the house last night in which a 34-year-old man was injured when a man, wearing a balaclava and carrying an improvised firearm, attacked him.

He was taken to Mullingar General Hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
