Man dies following Clare crash
A motorist was killed when his car crashed into a tree, police said today.
Road crash investigators are examining the scene of the accident, which happened at Derrainy, Whitegate, Co Clare, at 9.20pm last night.
The man, who was in his 30s, was the only occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
A garda spokesman warned drivers that the road remained closed.
Meanwhile, investigations were continuing into two separate weekend crashes which claimed the lives of three young men within kilometres of each other.
Two died in a three-car collision near Carrigaline in Co Cork in the early hours of yesterday morning.
And a 21-year-old man died when the car he was in crashed on the Waterpark estate in Carrigaline in the early hours of Saturday.
No other vehicle was involved.
