Hundreds gather in Dublin for 'citizens' forum'

More than 1,000 people are taking part in a unique "citizens' forum" in Dublin today.

The forum at the RDS will debate alternative policies to tackle the recession, and reshape Ireland's economy.

The organisers say they hope the forum will create a movement for change that politicians cannot ignore.

One of the organisers, Bernard Harbour of the trade union IMPACT, said people from all over Ireland were attending, and looking at ways of building a new society "based on equality, inclusiveness and sustainability".
