Elderly man dies in Carlow accident
A man in his 60s has been killed in a road crash in Co Carlow.
It happened on the N9 at Killinane, Leighlinbridge at around 7.30am this morning.
The man was the driver of a car when that vehicle and another car were in collision.
The driver of the other car and the passenger have been taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny.
The road is closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.
This latest fatality comes as gardaà warn they will be out in force on the roads this Bank Holiday weekend.
They are urging all motorists and in particular young men to take care.
Assistant Garda Commissioner in Traffic John Twomey said that efforts will not end with inspections, with the roll-out of privatised speed cameras on the way.
