Bishop: Church involvement in education 'a matter for debate'
Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox representatives will meet today to discuss the role of the Church in education in Ireland.
It comes as there is increased debate on educational management and proposed changes in State funding of education both here and in the North.
Ahead of the meeting, President of the Irish-Council of Churches Bishop Richard Clarke said
the Church's traditional responsibility for education is one which is "inevitably and properly a matter for debate in the changed Ireland of today".
Catholic Primate of All-Ireland Cardinal Seán Brady will be among those in attendance at today's meeting.
