A 17-year-old boy will face trial next January for crashing a stolen car into an oncoming vehicle, during an alleged chase captured on a Garda helicopter's CCTV system

The boy has pleaded not guilty at the Children's Court to driving a stolen Honda Civic, dangerous driving, not being insured, failing to stop for gardaí and leaving the scene of an accident, at Croftwood Gardens, in Ballyfermot, in Dublin, on April 5 last.

Today the teen, who was accompanied by his mother, was remanded on continuing bail by Judge Bryan Smyth pending a hearing of the case at the Children's Court on a date next January.

In an outline of the evidences the court had been told earlier that it was alleged that the boy “was driving a stolen Honda Civic, he collided and clipped an oncoming car at a roundabout causing €1,000 worth of damage.

The court had also heard that the prosecution's evidence included CCTV from a Garda helicopter.
