Dissident accused freed on bail
One of two men charged at the weekend in connection with the activities of dissident republicans was freed on bail by the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today.
Peter Butterly (aged 33), of Cortown, Togher, Dunleer, Co Louth was charged on Sunday with membership of an unlawful organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army, otherwise Oglaigh na hEireann, otherwise the IRA on October 8.
Today the court freed Butterly on his own bond of €100 and an independent surety of €20,000. The court also ordered Butterly to sign on daily at Dundalk Garda Station, to surrender his passport and to observe a curfew between 11pm and 7 am daily.
Another bail condition is that Butterly should not associate with anyone charged with or convicted of a scheduled offence. The court remanded Butterly on bail until December 17.
