New probe launched into North Housing Executive

A team including fraud investigators has started a major review of the organisation responsible for social housing in the North.

It comes as the Northern Ireland Housing Executive is already the subject of a series of separate inquiries, including one by the police.

The North's Social Development Minister Alex Attwood has ordered the latest probe to carry out an immediate ''governance audit'' to search for wider problems in the organisation.

Police are investigating a land deal involving the Housing Executive and a development company.
