Shriver commemoration to take place today
The Taoiseach Brian Cowen will host an event to celebrate the life of the founder of the Special Olympics later today.
The celebration for Eunice Kennedy Shriver will take place at Farmleigh in Dublin's Phoenix Park.
Eunice Kennedy Shriver day is a global call for people to do what they can to include people with intellectual disabilities.
Ms Kennedy Shriver was the sister of former US president JFK. She died last year.
Today's event at Farmleigh will be attended by her son Mark and by Irish atheletes who took part in this month's Special Olympic games in Poland.
Gardaií and members of the PSNI will also take part in a torch run in Dublin's Phoenix Park.
