Gardaí begin murder investigation after Cork body find

Gardaí have launched a murder investigation into the death of a 62-year-old man in Cork.

The body of the man, named locally as Michael Healy, was found by his brother yesterday morning.

Michael Healy's family became concerned for his welfare when they had not heard from him since the weekend.

His brother found his body on the bathroom floor of his flat at Rocksprings Terrace at St Luke's Cross in Cork city.

A post mortem on the body of the separated father of two has confirmed that he died from a head injury.

Gardaí at Mayfield have now launched a murder investigation into his death.

They are appealing to anyone in the area who may have heard of a disturbance or noticed anything suspicious to contact them.
