Foreign Affairs Minister Micheal Martin and Overseas Development Minister Peter Power will represent Ireland at the United Nations Millennium Development Goals Summit in New York today.

Foreign Affairs Minister Micheal Martin and Overseas Development Minister Peter Power will represent Ireland at the United Nations Millennium Development Goals Summit in New York today.

Speaking ahead of the two-day talks, Mr Power said they would press for an urgent focus on the eradication of extreme poverty and hunger.

<p> Volunteers attending the DMax 7.7 fitness event, in honour of Darragh McCarthy, who tragically passed away last year at just 21 years of age. The sold-out fitness event saw over 300 competitors take on DMax 7.7 featuring seven fitness stations, lasting seven minutes per station with a two minute transition between station. Competitors entered in teams of two and tested their strength, endurance and mental resilience across a series of challenges including rope skipping, ski-erg, medicine ball, assault bike, rowing, burpee box jumps and wall balls.
