AG report: Some university salaries awarded without sanction
A report from the Comptroller and Auditor General has instanced a number of cases where salary levels at the country's seven universities did not have ministerial sanction.
In some cases, the salaries paid to senior management exceeded levels approved.
The C&AG report also noted cases where unapproved allowances and certain performance-related bonuses were paid without the required approval.
In terms of pension entitlement, there was some doubt expressed about the extent to which some additional payments resulting from awards of added years, have become de facto entitlements of staff.
