One of the Taoiseach's Cabinet colleagues has described his apology for his performance in a radio interview as "manly, courageous and the right thing to do".

Brian Cowen apologised yesterday evening after controversy erupted over a radio interview he did on Tuesday morning.

Batt O'Keeffe said the Taoiseach accepted the interview wasn't up to scratch.

The Enterprise Minister said it was "a comprehensive apology".
